An analysis of territorial toot calls of Guatemalan Pygmy-Owl Glaucidium cobanense in the highlands of southern Mexico (south of the isthmus of Tehuantepec) and northern Central America and Mountain Pygmy-Owl Glaucidium gnoma in the Mexican highlands north of the isthmus of Tehuantepec supports the specific separation of both taxa.
